Hoisting Class 2A License – Readiness Course
The readiness course is a single six-hour class designed to give the applicant all the information he or she will need to know and understand to pass the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Safety class 2/A hoisting exam.
- Application process: Filling out, filing, general questions.
- Basic information: Identifying machine parts and functions, backhoe / loader / excavator.
- Walk around inspection procedures: Daily checklist.
- Servicing: Fluids, belts, hoses, lubrication.
- Start up and shut down procedures: Proper entering and exiting, in cab familiarization, identifying problems during startup, end of shift inspection.
- Utilities: hazards above and below, understanding the dangers and emergency procedures for everyone’s safety.
- Trenching: Depth safety, shoring and sloping, material placement.
- Transporting Machine: Proper equipment for the job, heights, weights, tie downs, permits.
- Hand signals: A complete understanding.
- Department of Public Safety: Laws and violations.
- Dig Safe: Functions, procedures, color codes.
- OSHA: Enforcement within the work place.

The areas of concentration are taught at a slow comfortable pace. The course fee is $300.00 (prices subject to change without notification).
There is a (3) month mandatory waiting period before the applicant can take the hoisting exam a second time. Get it done right the first time with ALL PHASE.
